Rural Connect

One of our longest-running initiatives has been in Kanpur Dehat – a rural district in North India. Under our Rural Development programme, we regularly conduct policy surveys, awareness camps, capacity-building workshops, and donation drives for the villagers there.

As a part of our Rural Development initiative, we launched a rural internship programme in 2018 with the aim of establishing a dialogue between the youth of urban and rural India.

This project gave them a glimpse of working of the Panchayati Raj system through a first hand policy dialogue with the local Gram Pradhan and MLA. They also got a better understanding of the rural healthcare ecosystem through their visits to Community Health Care centres and interaction seminars with Aanganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and Basic Health Workers. The students of Kanpur Dehat on the other hand, benefitted from their interaction with our interns who organised workshops on sustainable development, parliamentary procedures, Indian polity, and public speaking.
